8-Hour H.O.T. Class
If you want
to keep yourself alive on the fireground, this is the H.O.T.
class for you. Every year, five-to-ten firefighters in the U.S.
fire service die and untold numbers experience near miss
situations due to a failure to understand the Point of No
Return.
Whether firefighters get lost, have buildings collapse on
them, or just over-extend themselves, running out of air is the
cause of their demise. Using basic firefighting techniques like
rope-assisted search, oriented search, 1-3/4”, and 2-1/2" hose
deployment, you will learn to manage your air effectively.
You will learn how the Rule Of Air Management relates to the
Point of No Return and how to identify this decision point in
your operation. This new basic skill in firefighter safety and
survival improves situational awareness so firefighters' can
maximize their time in the hazard area while maintaining an
appropriate margin of safety.
Training firefighters to recognize
the Point of No Return is the most effective technique available
to reduce the incidence of firefighter emergency. Rapid
intervention techniques are vital to the modern fireground but
we would rather assist you in preventing situations where
firefighters are in need of RIT assistance. The mantra that
works: "Prevention before Intervention." We want you and your
team to recognize and prevent situations in which you will end
up calling the mayday and hoping the RIT team can save you
before you run out of air.
This
training is a REQUIRED portion of NFPA 1404: Standard for Fire
Service Respiratory Protection Training. If your department
struggles to get adequate RIT resources or would just like to
prevent the need for RIT deployments this is your chance to
learn what most fire departments in the U.S. do not offer! Top |
